Advisory is an excellent way to propel school-wide social-emotional learning. Currently, middle school advisory is often fragmented, ineffective, and hated by students and teachers alike. Aligning advisory with school-wide goals for social-emotional learning can increase the inclusivity of our schools, and can ensure that middle schools are safe, supportive spaces for students who are grappling with figuring out who they are.
